Milford Borough Council's Letter to Congressional Reps

The following letter was sent from Milford Borough Council to the listed Congressional Representatives in April 2022.

**********************************************************************************************

Representative Matt Cartwright 2102 Rayburn House Office Building Washington, DC 20515 Senator Pat Toomey 455 Dirksen Senate Office Building Washington, D.C 20510 Senator Robert Casey 393 Russell Senate Office Building Washington, DC 20510 Senator Angus King Chair, Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources Subcommittee on National Parks 133 Hart Building Washington, D.C. 20510 Senator Steve Daines Ranking Member, Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources Subcommittee on National Parks 320 Hart Senate Office Building Washington, D.C. 20510 Dear ________ The Borough Council of Milford in Pike County Pennsylvania respectfully informs you that we are not supportive of any proposal to change the designation of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area to a National Park and/or Preserve Area as we do not presently have enough information regarding the proposal.

Thus, we are requesting that a formal plan be presented which details each of the following:

- the sources of funding and fee structures being considered; - the plan for implementation of fees and fee collection locations; - a map of the new area depicting the location of Park boundaries and Preserve boundaries; - details of what activities will be or will not be allowed in Park/Preserve; - a map that includes information on any projected or future plans for acquisition of additional private or public lands; and - the projected impacts (both positive and negative) that this proposal would have on Milford Borough's residents, taxpayers, and visitors (i.e., Borough tax revenues, roads, businesses, and emergency services). Yours sincerely, Joseph Dooley Council President, Milford Borough Pike County PA
